A Toronto-based acquirer and long-term owner of specialized software built for single industries — from libraries and dental clinics to school buses and cemeteries. Founder Mark Leonard started it in 1995 and kept buying niche software firms to run, a model that grew it into one of the world's largest software companies. He originally wanted to call it "Software Co." but that name flopped, so he picked "Constellation" for the way many unrelated software stars form one picture.
