These are ARK Autonomous Technology & Robotics ETF's own holdings, not the firm's. Percentages are of the stock positions in its latest filing — the fund's cash and bonds are not included. This is a narrowly drawn bet inside ARK Invest's stable of innovation funds. Where the firm's flagship fund reaches across every theme at once, this one concentrates on a single idea: machines and systems that act on their own. It holds the stocks of companies working on autonomous cars, trucks and aircraft, factory robots and industrial automation, the software and chips that drive them, the batteries that power them, the 3D printers that make parts, and the rockets and satellites of the emerging space economy. The fund's rule is that at least 80% of its assets sit in these areas, chosen for long-term capital growth rather than current income. The fund opened on September 30, 2014, one of the first products of the firm Cathie Wood founded that year after her previous employer turned down her pitch for actively managed funds built around disruptive innovation. She has managed it since its first day, applying the house method: a small set of high-conviction holdings held on a horizon of about five years, with analysts modeling how production costs fall as scale grows, a pattern ARK calls Wright's Law. The theme is organized around technology rather than industry, and the fund leans on the same concentrated, long-hold style that made Wood one of the best-known names in growth investing. As a theme-specific fund, it is both narrower and more volatile than the firm's broader innovation flagship.
