A maker of electric vehicles built on a modular "skateboard" platform — a flat chassis holding the battery and motors that lets different bodies sit on top, from its canoe-like Lifestyle Vehicle to delivery vans. Founded in 2017 by two former BMW and Deutsche Bank executives who'd previously worked at Faraday Future, it launched as Evelozcity before rebranding to Canoo in 2019. The name nods to the canoe — a simple, sustainable form of transport used for thousands of years.
