Capital Bank Financial Corp
A bank holding company that built a regional banking franchise across the southeastern United States, serving communities in the Carolinas, Florida, Tennessee, and Virginia. It was born in 2009 as North American Financial Holdings, formed to buy up and steady distressed banks after the financial crisis, and adopted the Capital Bank name to match its main subsidiary's well-known brand. Fun twist: the "Capital Bank" it carried had long existed as one of those acquired banks, and the company itself later vanished into First Horizon, which folded its branches into today's First Horizon Bank.
