A medical device maker from St. Paul, Minnesota, best known for the Diamondback 360, a tiny diamond-coated crown on a catheter that spins in an orbital motion to "sand" away hardened calcium inside arteries, helping doctors place stents in patients with peripheral and coronary artery disease. It was founded in 1989 by heart doctor Leonid Shturman as Shturman Cardiology Systems, keeping his name until it became Cardiovascular Systems in 2003; Abbott bought it in 2023. The device's off-center crown is a nod to its orbital nickname, letting it reach wider as it spins faster.
