Carefusion Corporation
A maker of hospital safety technology, CareFusion built the automated Pyxis medicine-dispensing cabinets and Alaris infusion pumps that nurses use to track and deliver drugs while guarding against medication errors and infections. It was born in 2009 as a spin-off of Cardinal Health's medical-device businesses, and its name came from a small wireless patient-identification firm called Care Fusion that Cardinal had bought years earlier. Today its products live on under Becton Dickinson, which absorbed the company in 2015.
