Centrus Energy Corp.
A supplier of enriched uranium fuel for civilian nuclear power plants, Centrus Energy is one of the world's main sources of the material that keeps reactors running, including advanced HALEU fuel for next-generation designs. It grew out of the United States Enrichment Corporation, a government-owned operation created in 1992 to manage America's civilian uranium enrichment, which was privatized in 1998 and later rebranded as Centrus after a 2014 restructuring. In a fun twist, its American Centrifuge Plant in Piketon, Ohio, became the first U.S. facility ever licensed to make HALEU — the country's first new American-owned enrichment plant since 1954.
