Chemours Co
A maker of specialty chemicals behind some very familiar names, Chemours supplies the Teflon that coats nonstick cookware, the Ti-Pure pigment that whitens paints and plastics, and the Opteon refrigerants that keep homes, cars, and data centers cool. It was born in 2015 as a spinoff of DuPont, which described it as a "200-year-old start-up" built on industrial chemistry know-how. The name itself is a portmanteau of "chemical" and "Nemours," a nod to the French hometown of DuPont's founding family.
