Chemtura Corp
A maker of specialty chemicals, Chemtura Corporation supplied flame retardants (under the Firemaster brand), petroleum and lubricant additives, and pool-and-spa chemicals to markets around the world. It was formed in 2005 from the merger of Crompton Corporation and Great Lakes Chemical Corporation, with roots tracing back to an 1837 loom maker. The Firemaster name carries a famous story: a 1973 version was accidentally mixed into livestock feed in Michigan, a widely remembered episode.
