Chesapeake Granite Wash Trust

A passive oil-and-gas royalty trust that owns interests in wells drilled into the Colony Granite Wash formation in Washita County, Oklahoma, collecting a share of production income and passing it to unitholders. It was created in 2011 by Chesapeake Energy, which spun off the assets to raise money. The name is pure geology: "granite wash" describes sediment eroded from granite mountains and washed into the basin — geologists even call the formation a "garbage pail" term for its jumbled, stacked layers.
