China Resources Power Holdings Company Limited
One of China's largest independent power producers, China Resources Power builds and runs wind, solar, coal, and hydroelectric plants that supply electricity to cities across the country. The company was founded in 2001 in Hong Kong as the energy arm of the state-owned China Resources Group, whose roots go back to 1938, when it began as a trading firm supporting the anti-Japanese war effort. A name quirk worth retelling: the group's Chinese name, 华润, borrows its second character from the courtesy name of Mao Zedong.
