A pioneer of online luxury shopping, YOOX is an Italian e-commerce company that sells designer clothing, accessories, and home design pieces from well-known fashion houses to shoppers around the world. It was founded in 2000 in Bologna by entrepreneur Federico Marchetti, who built one of the first serious web stores for high-end fashion. Its curious name comes from the Y and X chromosomes — a nod to the joining of two branches of the Y chromosome, meant to evoke the meeting of fashion and technology.
