Dish Network Corporation
A satellite-TV and streaming company whose Dish brand delivers television to homes across the country, alongside the Sling TV streaming service and Boost mobile. It began in 1980 as EchoStar, when founders Charlie Ergen, his wife Candy, and Jim DeFranco sold and installed satellite dishes from the back of a pickup truck to rural households without cable. In those early days a gust of wind blew one of their two dishes into a ditch, destroying half their inventory — and the Dish service itself launched in 1996.
