Dresser-Rand Group Inc.
A maker of large rotating machinery for the energy industry, Dresser-Rand builds gas turbines, compressors, and steam turbines that pump oil and gas, drive power plants, and serve petrochemical refineries. The company was formed in 1986 as a joint venture between Dresser Industries and Ingersoll-Rand, which each contributed their pump and compressor divisions—and the name is simply a blend of the two parents. One early predecessor, the Moore Steam Turbine Company, was founded in Wellsville, New York, in 1916, giving the business roots going back more than a century before Siemens acquired it in 2015.
