Emc Corp

A maker of data storage systems for businesses, EMC built the Symmetrix and VMAX storage arrays that helped companies hold and manage their digital information. Founded in 1979 by college roommates Richard Egan and Roger Marino, the company's name comes from their surnames—the E and M—plus a C for Corporation. The founders first sold office furniture to raise money before turning to computer memory, and the company was later folded into Dell Technologies.
