Embark Technology Inc
A developer of software that lets semi-trucks drive themselves on highways. Founded in 2016 by two University of Waterloo classmates who had built Canada's first self-driving vehicle, the company started as Varden Labs making autonomous campus shuttles before pivoting to long-haul trucking and renaming itself Embark. Rather than building trucks, it licenses its "Embark Driver" software to fleets and offers a cloud tool called Embark Guardian for monitoring autonomous vehicles. It went public in 2021.
