Exar Corporation
A semiconductor company that designed analog, mixed-signal, and digital chips for telecom, industrial, and automotive markets, including power-management and interface circuits used in everyday electronics. Exar got its start in 1971 as a California subsidiary of Japan's Rohm, and its name echoes the Greek word "exarchein," meaning "to begin." MaxLinear absorbed the company in 2017.
