Extraction Oil & Gas, Inc.

A Denver-based energy company that pulled oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids from the Wattenberg Field in Colorado's Denver-Julesburg Basin using horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing. Founded in 2012 by Mark Erickson and Matt Owens, former colleagues at Gasco Energy, with backing from private-equity firm Yorktown Partners. Its name simply describes the business of extracting fuel from underground, and in 2021 it merged with Bonanza Creek Energy to form Civitas Resources.
