A Puerto Rico-based bank holding company whose main arm is FirstBank, a full-service bank serving everyday consumers, businesses, and institutions across Puerto Rico, Florida, and the U.S. and British Virgin Islands. It began in 1948 as the First Federal Savings and Loan Association, the first savings and loan institution ever set up on the island, helping thousands of Puerto Ricans buy their first homes. Its name stuck with the "First" theme through several renamings before becoming FirstBank in 1994.

The Corporation intends to continue to satisfy statutory tax withholding obligations in connection with the vesting of outstanding restricted stock and performance units through the withholding of shares.
