Gold Fields Limited
A gold mining company based in Johannesburg, South Africa, that mines gold at sites in South Africa, Ghana, Peru, and Australia, selling gold doré bars and copper. Its roots trace to 1887, when Cecil Rhodes and Charles Rudd founded Gold Fields of South Africa to work the Witwatersrand gold fields; the modern company formed in 1998 when those assets merged with Gencor. Fun fact: Rhodes was initially skeptical of the Witwatersrand gold, and Rudd had to persuade him the region was just the start.
