An independent oil and gas company that explores for and produces natural gas and crude oil from shale formations like the Haynesville, Eagle Ford, and Tuscaloosa Marine. It was founded in 1995 by Henry Goodrich, a Shreveport, Louisiana oilman who had run Goodrich Oil Company since 1975. Despite its surname, it has nothing to do with the B.F. Goodrich tire and aerospace firm — a case of an easily confused name. In 2011 the then-octogenarian founder got to ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange.
