Green Plains Inc.
A biorefining company that turns corn into low-carbon ethanol fuel, high-protein animal feed, renewable corn oil, and dextrose syrups used in food and beverages. Founded in 2004 as Green Plains Renewable Energy, it opened its first plant in Shenandoah, Iowa, in 2007 and later shortened its name to Green Plains Inc. in 2014 to reflect its shift beyond fuel into food and feed ingredients. Today it ranks among the largest ethanol producers in the United States.
