Grifols SA
A maker of plasma-derived medicines, Grifols is one of the world's largest producers of therapies drawn from blood plasma, used to treat patients with chronic and rare conditions. The company grew out of a small clinical analysis laboratory that Dr. Josep Antoni Grifols i Roig opened in Barcelona in 1909, and it still carries the family name. In 1945 the family opened Spain's first private blood bank, which later became the world's first plasmapheresis center.
