HSBC Holdings Plc
A London-headquartered global bank serving everyday savers, investors, and businesses from small firms to multinationals with accounts, cards, mortgages, and trade finance. It began as the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, founded in 1865 by a Scottish shipping man who saw the need to fund booming trade between Asia and the wider world. The name HSBC simply comes from the initials of that original venture, which still lives on as its Asia-Pacific arm.
