Hrg Group Inc.
A diversified holding company that owned stakes in consumer and industrial businesses, HRG Group traced its roots to Zapata Petroleum, an oil-exploration firm co-founded in 1953 by future U.S. President George H.W. Bush. The name came from the 1952 film "Viva Zapata!" — and partner Hugh Liedtke liked it because a "Z" name would put the company at the end of phone-directory listings. After decades of renaming (Zapata to Harbinger to HRG), the company merged with Spectrum Brands in 2018 and ceased to exist as a separate entity.
