Horsehead Holding Corp
A U.S. producer of zinc and nickel-based products that also recycled electric arc furnace dust, a hazardous byproduct of steelmaking, to recover the zinc inside it. Its roots reach back to 1848, when companies began mining zinc in New Jersey, whose first penny (1786) featured a horse head and plow. The company cast that horse-head crest onto its furnace doors, and the symbol gave the company its name.
