Hudbay Minerals Inc.
A Canadian mining company that digs copper, gold, and zinc from open-pit and underground mines in Peru, Manitoba, and British Columbia, selling the metal concentrate used in wiring, electronics, and construction. It began in 1927 as Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting, founded after prospector Tom Creighton discovered a rich copper-zinc orebody in Manitoba and, per legend, named the nearby town Flin Flon after Josiah Flintabbatey Flonatin, a character from a science-fiction novel he'd been reading.
