Ingram Micro Inc.
One of the world's largest technology distributors, this company moves hardware, software, and cloud products from brands like Apple, Cisco, and Microsoft to the resellers and retailers who sell them. It began in 1979 as Micro D, founded by a husband-and-wife team of teachers, and took its current shape in 1989 when Nashville's Ingram Industries merged its computer-distribution arm with Micro D. The name Ingram Micro simply joins those two founding families.
