Innospec Inc.
A global specialty chemicals maker, Innospec produces fuel additives, oilfield chemicals, and personal-care ingredients found in everyday products like shampoos and lotions. It began in 1938 in Liverpool, England as Associated Octel, which made tetraethyl lead to boost gasoline octane. Its name came from "octane," and when leaded fuel was phased out, it renamed itself Innospec (a mash-up of "innovation" and "specialty") in 2006 to signal its broader focus.
