One of the largest banks in the Nordic region, Danske Bank offers everyday banking, mortgages, loans, and investment services to personal customers, businesses, and large corporations across Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Northern Ireland. It began in 1871 as Den Danske Landmandsbank (The Danish Farmers' Bank), founded by a former saddle maker turned stockbroker to lend to farmers. The name was trimmed twice—to Den Danske Bank in 1976, then simply Danske Bank in 2000—so a bank that once served agriculture now fronts a whole nation's banking.
