Amedisys Inc
A provider of home health care, hospice, and palliative care, sending nurses, therapists, and aides to care for people in their own homes across dozens of states. It began in 1982 when registered nurse William Borne founded it in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, as the Analytical Nursing Management Corporation. The name "Amedisys" was adopted in 1995 after the company went public and pivoted from a nursing staffing agency to a full home-care network. Today it is part of Optum, the health-services arm of UnitedHealth Group.
