One of the world's largest telecom firms, América Móvil runs the Claro and Telcel brands that connect millions across the Americas and parts of Europe with mobile, broadband, and pay-TV services. It was born in 2000 when Carlos Slim's Telmex spun off its wireless and international businesses into a new company. It helped pioneer prepaid phone cards and subsidized handsets, making mobile phones affordable to far more people.
