iShares Trust
A family of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) offered under the iShares brand, managed by BlackRock, one of the world's largest asset managers. Investors buy shares in these funds to own slices of a basket of stocks or bonds—from the broad S&P 500 index to gold or clean energy—through a single purchase. The brand began with Barclays Global Investors, whose iShares lineup BlackRock bought in 2009, keeping the name. The name itself plays on the idea of sharing ownership, with the lowercase "i" nodding to index funds.
The iShares 5-10 Year Investment Grade Corporate Bond ETF seeks to track the investment results of an index composed of U.S. dollar-denominated investment-grade corporate bonds with remaining maturities between five and ten years.
