American Campus Communities Inc
A developer, owner, and manager of student housing across the United States, American Campus Communities builds and runs apartments for college students, often partnering with universities to put housing directly on campus. It was founded in 1993 by Bill Bayless, who got the idea while working as a resident assistant at West Virginia University, and it started with just four employees and a single management contract. The company was originally called American Campus Lifestyles Companies before taking its current name, and it was acquired by Blackstone in 2022.
