Lerer Hippeau Acquisition Co
A special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC — a "blank check" firm created to raise money through an initial public offering and then merge with a private company to take it public. Formed in 2021 by the New York venture capital firm Lerer Hippeau, it hunted for technology-enabled businesses in health, direct-to-consumer brands, and commerce. It never found a merger partner and liquidated in late 2022, returning its investors' money. The firm behind it takes its name from co-founders Ben Lerer and Eric Hippeau, who also helped build digital media companies like Thrillist and HuffPost.
