LORILLARD INC

A maker of tobacco products for more than two centuries, it is known for the menthol Newport cigarette (launched 1957, named for the sailing town of Newport, Rhode Island) and the Kent line. French immigrant Pierre Abraham Lorillard founded it in 1760 in New York City, and it was part of the American Tobacco Company from the 1890s until 1911. Its Native American pipe-smoker trademark became one of the world's best-known tobacco logos; in 2015 Reynolds American acquired the company.
