A maker of commercial kitchen equipment for restaurants, hotels, and other food businesses, selling fryers, steamers, combi ovens, and ice machines under well-known brands like Frymaster, Cleveland, Convotherm, and Manitowoc Ice. It began as the foodservice arm of The Manitowoc Company, a Wisconsin manufacturer founded in 1902, and was spun off as an independent company in 2016 before rebranding as Welbilt a year later. The name "Manitowoc" comes from an Anishinaabe word meaning "home of the good spirit," while "Welbilt" revives a stove company founded in Queens, New York, in 1929.
