Maxim Integrated Products, Inc.

A maker of analog and mixed-signal chips that turn real-world signals like temperature, sound, and speed into digital data used across cars, factories, and consumer gadgets. It was founded in Sunnyvale, California, in 1983 by Jack Gifford, a co-founder of AMD, along with a team that had worked at Intersil. The name "Maxim" was chosen to celebrate "maximum integration" — packing complex functions onto single chips — and the company later joined Analog Devices.
