Ansys Inc
Ansys makes engineering simulation software that lets engineers test products virtually before building physical prototypes. Its programs, such as Ansys Fluent and Ansys Mechanical, model fluid flow, heat, and structural stress, and are used heavily in aerospace and automotive design. Founded in 1970 by Dr. John Swanson as Swanson Analysis Systems, the company took the name "Ansys" because copyright lawyers assured the founder it was a unique identifier that didn't stand for anything in particular.
