Nestle SA
A maker of food and beverages sold around the world, Nestlé owns familiar brands like Nescafé coffee, Nespresso, KitKat chocolate, and Purina pet food. The company grew out of two Swiss ventures from the 1860s: Henri Nestlé's infant cereal and the Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company, which merged in 1905. The name comes from a Swabian German word meaning "small nest," and the bird's-nest logo was adapted from the founder's family coat of arms.
