Apartment Investment and Management Company
A real estate investment trust that owns, develops and manages apartment communities across the United States, with a focus on markets like South Florida, Denver and the Washington, D.C. area. Known simply as Aimco — a nickname that spells out its full name, Apartment Investment and Management Company — it grew out of The Considine Company, founded by real estate investor Terry Considine in 1975, and went public in 1994. Fun fact: the name Aimco is just a tidy acronym for what the firm literally is.
