Norbord Inc
A maker of wood-based panels, Norbord was once the world's largest producer of oriented strand board (OSB)—the engineered sheets of layered wood strands used in home walls, roofs, and flooring. The company grew out of Canadian mining giant Noranda, formally taking shape in 1998 and adopting the name Norbord in 2004, a blend of "Noranda" and "board" that nods to its roots and its product. It expanded by snapping up the UK's only OSB mill in Scotland in 1988, and later merged with Ainsworth Lumber before being folded into West Fraser Timber in 2021.
