Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.
A maker of Galaxy smartphones, tablets, wearables, televisions, home appliances, and the memory chips (DRAM and NAND flash) that power devices worldwide. Founded in 1969 by Lee Byung-chull, the company began with a 12-inch black-and-white television and grew into one of the world's largest electronics makers. Its name, Samsung, means "three stars" in Korean — a nod to the founder's wish for a company that is large, plentiful, and strong.
