It began in 1882 as a Richmond, Virginia pharmacy founded by G. Gilmer Minor and Otho O. Owens, and after more than a century as the distributor Owens & Minor, it sold that business and renamed itself Accendra Health in late 2025 to focus purely on care outside the hospital.
