Papaya Growth Opportunity Corp. I
A blank-check company, or SPAC, that raises money from public investors with the aim of merging with a private business and taking it public. Based in Oakland and led by Clay Whitehead, it was set up in 2021 with backing from the investment firm Launchpad Capital and initially aimed at tech and media targets. Its name echoes the tropical fruit — a playful pick with no deep meaning — and in 2025 it agreed to combine with PX Energy, a Brazilian fuel-products maker, before that deal fell apart.
