A biopharmaceutical company that develops and sells specialty medicines, including NUZYRA, a once-daily antibiotic for pneumonia and skin infections, and XHANCE, a prescription nasal spray. It was founded in 1996 by Nobel Prize-winning scientist Walter Gilbert and antibiotic-resistance expert Stuart Levy, and went public in 2014 through a reverse merger with Transcept Pharmaceuticals. NUZYRA is a next-generation tetracycline engineered to dodge the two main ways bacteria resist older antibiotics.
