A biopharmaceutical company that turned human-drug breakthroughs into medicines for pets, Aratana developed treatments for dogs and cats such as Galliprant for arthritis pain, Nocita for post-surgery pain relief, and Entyce to boost appetite. Founded in 2010 and based in Leawood, Kansas, it grew out of the idea that pets deserve the same advanced therapies as people. In 2019 the animal-health giant Elanco bought the company, folding its pet medicines into a larger veterinary portfolio.
