Pono Capital Corp
A special-purpose acquisition company, or "blank check" company, that raises money to find and merge with a private business and take it public faster than a traditional IPO. Its first big deal, completed in early 2023, brought AERWINS Technologies to the Nasdaq — the Japanese maker of the XTURISMO hoverbike, a flying motorcycle that turns heads wherever it appears. Its name comes from "pono," the Hawaiian word for balance and doing what is right, which gives this Wall Street vehicle a decidedly laid-back, island-inspired origin story.
