Preferred Apartment Communities Inc
A real estate investment trust (REIT) that built and ran upscale apartment communities across the US Southeast and East Coast, founded in 2011 in Atlanta by John Williams — the same developer who had earlier created Post Properties, a pioneer of the modern American apartment industry. The "Preferred" in its name played on the preferred stock the company used to fund its growth. Williams' second act was widely dubbed "making lightning strike twice," and the company was later bought by Blackstone in 2022.
