Psivida Corp
A maker of tiny implants that slowly release medicine inside the eye to treat retinal diseases like macular edema and uveitis, using its Durasert delivery technology. Founded in 1987, the company was named pSivida for "porous silicon," a material it licensed from a British defense agency, before rebranding to EyePoint Pharmaceuticals in 2018. Its early tech even grew out of microelectromechanical (MEMS) science, a far cry from the eye-care world it serves today.
